Project Description

The C-Roads project is one of the European Union’s most important current research projects in the area of road traffic and transport. In addition to the focus on cooperative services, the harmonization of these services is, above all, of paramount importance. The plan is to pave the way so that national borders disappear for road users and they can move seamlessly, smoothly and efficiently between all participating countries. GEVAS software is taking a leading part in a pilot project in the state of Hessen in the area of Green Light Optimal Speed Advisory (GLOSA).
The English term GLOSA is comparable with the so-called Ampelphasen-Assistent (traffic light phase assistant) in German. This application intuitively supplies a road user with the information he/she requires to be able to drive at the optimal speed in order to cross the stop line without having to halt (green-wave assistant). As soon as the road user stops in front of a red light, a countdown informs him/her of the anticipated remaining time that the lights will be on red. You can find further information on GLOSA at www.trafficpilot.eu.
The implementation of the project will take place in two different ways:
- This method is aimed at early adopters who want to be a step ahead of time and consists of a mobile GLOSA app on an Android or iOS smartphone. This solution is possible now without any additional investments in infrastructure.
- In the medium-term future, GEVAS software, together with the company AVT STOYE, is investing in future technology that will be of importance in the area of autonomous driving, namely ETSI G5. As usual, GEVAS software will make use of open interfaces such as OCIT Outstation V3 and OCIT-C V2 for technical support.
