Traffic management center Leipzig

On the occasion of the football world cup 2006 in Germany, a traffic-system management center was implemented for the metropolitan region of Leipzig. GEVAS software was one of the leading project partners.

The biggest traffic management system in Germany consists of an inner-city traffic management center, which has been built up by GEVAS software, and two sub-centers for controlling the signage on the highways around Leipzig. The highway signs controlled by the sub-centers are integrated into the overall management system. The sub-centers were installed by Heusch/Boesefeldt GmbH from Aachen, which formed a working group with GEVAS software for the Leipzig project.

The new center is equipped with state-of-the-art software and display technology and a pre-stage was put into operation in June 2006. Thus the new system could show how high volumes of traffic can be managed reliably and efficiently during the football world cup. After the world cup, however, other big events benefit from the new traffic management. Until february 2007, further function modules were implemented and the system is now completed.
